Over the past couple of years Americans are doing more online shopping. The reasons for this being is that it is less time consuming than actually visiting a store, there are a lot of manufacturers that are now selling directly to the consumers online at deeply discounted prices, and there is more variety and people are able to find exactly what they are looking for or simply contact the manufacturer directly through the web to make the product to their precise measures. Amazon.com is a perfect example of a website that people visit in order to find deeply discounted prices and items are easily accessible by just typing the name of which ever thing is being looked for, also many companies offer free shipping with the purchase. A trend that is becoming increasingly popular is the “Cyber Monday” – it is the Monday after black Friday and it usually offers good deals for online shoppers. This year the Cyber Monday sales topped at almost 2 billion dollars, which is an amazing 17% growth compared to last year sales. At the current rate of online buying the money spent by consumers in online transactions will soon surpass that of retail. Technology such as mobile cell phones are making it possible for people to shop anywhere at any time. The convenience of online shopping has become a very attractive option for the people of today with very complex and busy life-styles.
